Drowning out the noise

During study sessions in college, my study mates would always get mad at me for wearing my earphones and turning up the music so loud that I would drown out the sound of their voices. Even though they would be directly in my line of sight, I wouldn't notice them. Sometimes, the world is so full of noise, you just have to intentionally drown it out. This is why I am so in love with my ipod.

On the freeway, all you hear is moving cars. All you hear engines and horns -- the sound of modern technology soaring. When you walk on a busy street, you hear the collective noise of people talking, walking, and themselves being oblivious to the world surrounding them. It's all just noise and I have learned to stop listening.

Melissa, OUT :)
